Newton Aycliffe is proud to welcome a brand-new publication — Aycliffe Alternative Magazine, a community-led project offering a fresh and creative take on local life.
The magazine aims to showcase the diverse spirit of the town, blending the alternative with the everyday. Readers can expect features on tattoos, local art, and creative expression, alongside wholesome community stories, charity updates, and highlights of businesses and places worth visiting.
The first issue, out now, October 2025 can be read below, on this page, in PDF format, making it easy for residents to read, share, and enjoy.
Editor Sarah Wingfield, who also runs Aycliffe Uncensored, explained:
“This is an alternative and up-and-coming magazine for those who want to be in the know about all the cool places to frequent. But it’s also about community — giving space to stories, ideas, and voices that don’t always get heard.”
The team behind the magazine are currently inviting contributions from local residents. Photographs of Newton Aycliffe, personal stories, and potential articles are all welcomed. There will also be opportunities for local businesses and organisations to advertise, ensuring the magazine reflects and supports the wider community.
In addition to original content, the magazine will share information and updates from Great Aycliffe Town Council, helping keep residents connected with civic news.

Aycliffe Alternative Magazine:
Our team is made up of people who’ve been pushed out of community projects, silenced, ostracised, and sabotaged — people who refused to compromise their morals just to fit in. We’re the ones who still stand for what’s right, even when it costs us.
Many of the people featured in our magazine are those you won’t find highlighted elsewhere. Not because they haven’t tried — but because they’ve been mistreated, lied about, or left behind by those meant to represent the community. We believe no one deserves abandonment or blacklisting, especially when their hard work directly benefits our town.
We came together to create a space for everyone. We don’t exclude anyone — ever. Our mission isn’t about popularity or politics; it’s about people.
We believe every voice deserves to be heard, and every contribution to our town deserves recognition.
While we still try to engage and collaborate with councillors, companies, and organisations that sometimes choose to leave people out, we can’t force them to join us. What we can do is continue to make space for those they overlook, ignore, or underestimate.
Every Newtonian matters. It’s disheartening to see how ego and elitism have replaced compassion and cooperation in some spaces.
Elitism doesn’t build community — togetherness does.
Teams are stronger when everyone has a seat at the table. That’s how we create real change and stand up for those who need it most.
